Battle Creek 150th

Selected for Temple Movement
The Battle Creek 150th committee is humbled to announce that they have been selected for an Abu Bekr Temple Movement. What is a Temple movement you ask? That means, there won’t be just one u...nit from the Abu Bekr Shriners’ in Battle Creek, Iowa for the 150th. All twenty-four Shriners’ units, from clowns, to ATVs, to the Animal Unit, to the White Horse Mounted Patrol, come together to perform in a town.

To highlight the Temple Movement, the BC150th has chosen to add a parade featuring ONLY the Abu Bekr Shriners at 7:00p.m. on July 3rd, 2015.

The towns chosen for Abu Bekr Temple Movements often have a key drawing point and for Battle Creek it was the celebration of their 150th birthday. The Temple Movement is without charge to the community. "It's our way of saying thank you to the smaller communities around," Dave Benson, member of the Rat Patrol, explains. Battle Creek has enjoyed the Rat Patrol for the past few years. Their motto is, “First you hear us, then you see us, then you never forget us.” Battle Creek is working hard to make a celebration that will be remembered for years to come. The Temple Movement will be a highlight, for sure.

Crop Production Services of Danbury, Battle Creek, and Ida Grove will sponsor a complimentary supper for the approximately 250 Abu Bekr Shriners immediately following the parade. “We want to thank the Shriners. We appreciate that they chose Battle Creek for their Temple Movement and also the great work that they do for children.”, says CPS Manager and Battle Creek resident, Byron Dausel. The Abu Bekr Units will then be invited, by the 150th Committee, to attend the concert that will follow that night.

Battle Creek Announces Concert Event

The Battle Creek 150th Committee and the Battle Creek Fire Department are excited to announce that they will be adding a new twist to the Annual Firemen’s dance. Battle Creek has contracted country music artist, Aaron Tippin, to entertain for the special celebration in 2015.

Next year marks an anniversary for Aaron as well,  he is celebrating his 25th year in the business. Tippin has crusaded for the working man and woman since he ripped country music wide open in 1990 with his uncompromising “You’ve Got To Stand For Something.”  On the strength of that remarkable song, comedian Bob Hope invited Tippin to appear with him when he toured the Mideast to entertain the troops of Desert Storm.  Tippin has been a favorite of—and a standby for—America’s fighting forces ever since.

In the years that followed, Tippin’s voice continued to ring loud and clear with such hits as “I Wouldn’t Have It Any Other Way,” “There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong With The Radio’ (an affectionate nod to the kind of automotive clunker most of us have had to rely on at one time or another), “My Blue Angel,” “Working Man’s Ph. D.,” “The Call Of The Wild,” “I Got It Honest,” “That’s As Close As I’ll Get To Loving You,” “For You I Will,” “Kiss This” (a cheeky No. 1 song he co-wrote with his wife and partner-in- everything, Thea).

Tippin became immediately enraged by the sneak attacks of 9/11 and quickly remembered a song he’d recently penned, (his proudly defiant), “Where The Stars And Stripes And The Eagle Fly.”   He instantly booked studio time and rushed to Nashville and tracked this emotional anthem that reminds countless people as to what it means to be an American.  Tippin has since journeyed to Iraq and Afghanistan to sing for the troops.  These missions, in turn, have earned him guest spots on such shows as Larry King Live and Hannity & Colmes to speak on the military’s behalf.

Tippin’s honest lyrics and direct, impassioned vocals have built a large and devoted audience.  Five of his albums are certified “Gold”—Call Of The Wild, You’ve Got To Stand For Something, Lookin’ Back At Myself, Tool Box and People Like Us.   A sixth CD—Read Between The Lines—stands at the “Platinum” level.

The Battle Creek 150th committee felt that Aaron’s “Hard work Attitude” and “Pride in the USA” fit the town well. Battle Creek takes a day off and celebrates their American pride, each year, on the Fourth of July. The concert will be held on the City property, next to the ball fields, on the east side of town. The concert will follow the Abu Bekr Temple Movement, set for July 3rd at 7:00pm. The BCFD will have their annual Beer Garden with mechanical bull. Inflatable fun and lazer tag will be open for the kids. ‘The Hill’ will be a wonderful place for family, friends, alumni, and neighboring residents to enjoy a great hometown get together and concert. Tickets to the event will be On Sale before the holiday season.
